Album Description: Kima Al-Rih
More than just an album, Kima Al-Rih is an act of resistance and self-affirmation. It traces the inner journey of a young woman navigating a world that has often rejected her passion for music and singing. Through its eight tracks, the album reveals the deep human experiences that have marked Ameni Riahi’s life and inspired her artistic path. Each song is a living narrative, born from distinct moments and emotions, blending a variety of musical styles with a touch of jazz. Together, they form a vibrant mosaic of resilience and self-discovery, reflecting the artist’s quest to realize her dreams through music and writing.
Kima Al-Rih is much more than just a collection of songs—it is a testament to courage, creativity, and the transformative power of art.
Ameni also excels in musical theater. She wrote and performed the Tunisian version of Disney's Aladdin, in collaboration with the street circus Paparouni.
In 2024, her artistic reach extends beyond Tunisia’s borders. Invited to the SHE ART's festival in Cairo, she delivered a memorable performance at the Umm Kalthoum Theatre (Ewart Memorial Hall), playing to a sold-out crowd of over 1,000 spectators, accompanied by the talented Egyptian pianist Andrew Milad. This experience marked a turning point in her career. She collaborated with the Mazaher troupe, specialists in traditional El Zar music, at the Egyptian Center for Culture and Arts (Makan). Her curiosity and inspiration then led her to team up with the Egyptian rock band Code Masr. After several weeks of studio residency, this collaboration resulted in an EP that innovatively blends their respective musical worlds.
Upon returning to Tunisia, Ameni is dedicated to preparing for the live release of her album, scheduled for January 2025. This event will mark a major milestone in her career, with the participation of Code Masr, who will perform in Tunisia for the first time.
The end of 2024 is marked by a poignant moment for Ameni, with the loss of her friend and mentor Yacer Jeradi, who had encouraged her to take the stage ten years earlier. In tribute to this artist who profoundly influenced her career, Ameni will dedicate a performance to him during the opening ceremony of the Tunisian Theatre Festival at the National Theatre of Tunisia in November 2024.
An engaged and audacious artist, Ameni Riahi continues to push the boundaries of her art, solidifying her place as one of the major cultural figures of her generation on both the regional and international stages.
